I LOVE shopping for a new seasonal wardrobe! Despite probably never having enough cash to buy those beautifully abstract Balenciaga heels and scalloped Valentino skirt; a girl can dream though, huh?.
A seasonal fashion publication I adore is one published by HNM. Veronique Didry of Vogue Paris did the styling for the ‘must have shoot’ in the A/W 2010 and I must say everything is so wonderfully put together. The layering is perfect and it isn’t overly complicated so it’s very easy to break down and experiment with PLUS..it is HNM so everything is affordable and easily acquired.

Times are hard, fulfilment is lacking.

‘Item’s’ keeping a semi-enthusiastic expression glued to my face are as follows; ONE: Crystal Castles’ new album. In my opinion it is absolutely fantastic (Particularly tracks Baptism & Year of silence) I advise readers of this awful blog to go and make the purchase ASAP.

TWO: Sale bought lace-ups from UrbanOutfitters. I am a fashion junky therefore exude displays of actual joy and excitement when I come across items such as these boots. They’re a steal at £45.00 and now Mr Sun has decided to pack his bags and leave us after our brief encounter with summer I shall be donning them absolutely EVERYWHERE.

The title of this post is pretty much what life feels like to me at the minute; I’m working, spending all my money on useless possessions and twiddling my thumbs (and toes) waiting for something worthwhile to happen..and of course I myself can only make things happen. The days are long and filled with a haze of uncertainty, I’m not happy where I am but I don’t how to escape. The only thing keeping me remotely sane is the good friends that surround me.

Hm, It’s like one of those tremendously difficult maths equations that delays the completion of your entire assignment. Mind you…I’m not entirely sure what that equation was to begin with or how to figure it out when I finally do know.

Thank god for music, that’s all I’ll say…Oh and really cool Swedish kids from the 70’s. I wish I smoked this much and rode motorcycles when I was 12…actually I’d probably be dead by now. Ho hum.

I wasn’t going to update today but I have been clearing out the black holes that are my cupboards and discovered my big box of happy crap I’ve collected over the years.

1) Other boys’ sweatbands – it was compulsory at school/ college to pilfer a boys wrist wear if you intended on courting them. Sadly I have only a few, some are far too tatty and disgusting to show on here..I should probably throw them out?

2) Worry dolls – tell them your concerns and they’ll magically transform your life for the better via mythical powers (I actually thought this would get me a boyfriend *sigh). Apparently if you ‘anger’ these little woven people..they kill your family or something? hmm.

3) Little tiny horse that I spent a sufficient amount of time excavating from the centre of the rather large rubber bouncy ball during a very boring assembly. I really should of concentrated more at school.

4) Aaah love letters, a box of happy crap isn’t complete without the odd love letter.

5) 2 Dollars from my first trip to America (LA). The only 2 I have left from my 5 day adventure in Hollywood, the rest were spent on T-shirts I couldn’t buy here in England and limited edition Vans (as many as I could fit in a suitcase) from a very cool skate shop on Hollywood Boulevard. Tisk tisk.

6) The ticket stub from my very first gig at Rock City; no it’s not a really cool band like the rolling stones..it is in fact Bowling for soup, what a freaking loser.

7) Not really from my crap box but instead next to it..my fathers camera he received on his 21st birthday which I am going to fix up and take some amazing snaps with to show YOU people.

Happy Valentines day all! I did all my celebrating on Thursday seeing as that was my anniversary so I just settled for breakfast in bed this morning. Wagamamas was the first port of call this year then afterwards we went to see Youth in revolt at the cinema – which I loved. Michael Cera has never really caught my attention before this film and I must admit, I couldn’t help finding him a little bit attractive as a foul mouthed rogue..even with that awful moustache!.

I found a cool new notebook whilst shopping one day this week – so cool it makes me want to draw silly things inside. I love NEW EMPTY SKETCHBOOKS!..especially ones with cool cameras on the cover. Some other neat stuff I got this week is a printed tee designed by Kate Moross which I LOVE but am too scared to wear in case it gets dirty (hand wash only – I am clueless on how to do this properly) so for now it sits nicely in my cupboard awaiting that perfect dirt free day to arrive on which I can don it and look amazing. David Shrigleys new book named ‘Red Book’ also arrived on Tuesday. Hilarious – this is the only word I will use to describe it. I love that guy.

Sadly the week ended on a low; on Thursday night I was shocked to find out about the death of Lee Alexander McQueen. I’ve loved his work for many years and his beautiful catwalk shows always amazed me to the point of getting goose bumps – his newest spring/summer 2010 show is no exception.

Hey y’all,

The snow is back, as of 10 minutes ago *sigh. I do hope it stops soon as I’m really not up for sporting wellington boots for another two weeks, my other shoes felt so neglected last time!.

The beginning..and the ending of last week consisted of some friendly faces, shopping (mostly for donuts), drawing and some reminiscing. I love to remember my student digs and the fun we used to have there but it’s currently over shadowed by the fact our old (very mean) landlord is trying to fleece us for all we’ve got. I hate it when individuals try and ruin all your memories. Thankfully I received another wonderful letter from Nicola J to cheer me up, I love the randomness of its content (some of which can be seen above). I need to get cracking on a response..something to make Royal mail staff say wowee!, after all ..Nicolas envelope would of definitely got them talking hehe.

Oh yes..I posted my first look on lookbook.nu today, It sure is hard to get some hype on that thing. I think I might just leave it the professionals!

A day off..

I love a well spent day off; Sketchbooks are at the ready, as are the pens.

First things first, I have been ask to create a new logo for a doggy rescue centre based in Bestwood. I made a visit to the centre last week when it was still snowy and did a spot of photography for the lovely lady that runs it. I ended up wanting to adopt all of the lovely animals!

My 2010 diary is slowly but surely filling up with wonderful events, one being Passion Pit! (They’re finally coming to Nottingham!) there is still plenty of room for a much needed holiday though.

Anyway, let the drawing commence! (with a little bit of reading in between)

It’s all over.

It’s 3 days into the new year and I’m only just updating my blog, how very disappointed I am with my self for all the neglect!. I was very sad to see off 2009 as it has been a very happy year for me - Rome, my degree show, Newquay, Graduating, Creamfields and some how managing to blag an internship with the fabulous Jon Burgerman; 2010 has a lot to live up to and so far it’s not doing so well. I wont be too negative as it’s only been 3 days but it’s safe to say I’m clueless as to where I’ll be in 12 months time and I don’t like it one bit. Hopefully by December I’ll have travelled to Berlin and a few other lovely cities in a far away places, gotten my self a reasonably good job that ties in with my main interests AND fingers crossed I can get my work out there into circulation for all to see.

Who knows what will come of 2010, but I’ll be documenting every single moment (as always). Above are some snaps taken over the festive period, my favourite being the Christmas card given to me (and doodled on) by Jon B. I don’t think I’ll be removing it from my shelf any time soon :).. Big weirdo, I know.

This weekend had a fantastic start, I travelled up north to visit Jon Burgermans’ ‘Paralysis of choice’ exhibition opening (the thing I've spent my entire internship working on) and had a lovely time, mostly because I was reunited with my good uni pal Nicola!. Oh how I have missed our chats and laughs!. The exhibition opening was great although it lacked bathroom facilities - this proved very distressing for me. The after party was equally as good, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and will definitely be making a return visit to Newcastle one day!.

This weekend has been spent drawing and thinking of top 5's for a project thought up by a friend (Gregory Wood) of my intern boss. I have come up with a fair few, although the majority are rather silly and are not going to be used I will keep them for future browsing/ laughs.

I found my favourite book yesterday (How to draw anything, by Mark Linley), stuffed behind the radiator; how long for I do not know. I spent most of childhood studying this book, mostly the nudey pages (many of which are desecrated with Biro drawn male genitalia)..not done by myself of course. It just goes to show even the nicest little country side schools harbour the naughtiest of children.

For the next few days I am stranded in a strange town called Sutton, because of this I am unable to do anything remotely creative as all my felt tips and crayons have been left at home on my desk. I have been given the task (..or home work if you like) by my new bossy boss, Mr Burgerman of setting up a new website/ another blog for just my art work. I need to get on it straight away..Gap inc have used up too much of my precious time/life already and the thought of staying there beyond January depresses me slightly, OK a lot; so I better start getting my work out there for all to see!

This situation has been helped slightly as a pal from uni has asked me to contribute work to an exhibition she's curating in Nottingham, along with Nicola (Inside the cabinet of wonder) and others. More info soon I guess.

Today at work, Ipods were scarce and we were forced to put on a music disc provided by Gap. Surprisingly it had this beauty on it, for which the video brings me great joy, so much so at the end of the song when the leaf blower sounds I LOL'd whilst serving a customer. I love you Shriggers', I'd marry you..if you weren't already married?

Today was my day off and I set myself a task to do at least a few art related things, I think I managed it?. I tend to work better at night time, don't know why..maybe it's the tea and comforting light from my lovely lamp. I probably shouldn't post a picture of stolen property on my blog but it's my favourite mug, the only one that keeps my tea remotely warm for more than ten minutes!.

Anyway, I shall return to some late night browsing through my big book of beautiful art.

This is the first update in a very long time and it is also a sad one too, University has now come to an end and so has the celebratory holiday. I had the best time and i was absolutely gutted that i had to return to normal life. We met some wonderful people whilst in Cornwall, mostly of the male variety due to the fact Newquay was seriously lacking female presence!. Anyway..I have finally shed the remainders of my wonderful holiday, reluctantly..and I'm now preparing my self for the hard months ahead filled with less than impressive interview techniques and terrible covering letters.

My first interview is tomorrow, I must admit PR and Marketing is sounding more boring by the second. I'd much rather be getting my hands dirty, i suppose a bit of gardening will have to do for now.

I had a lot of fun at the private view, I was joined by my sister her partner and of course my partner (I know..serious lack of parentals but a holiday in Devon was just too good to say no to). There was a lot of interest in my work! I became a serial eves dropper which probably wasn't good for my ego but what the heck, I was really happy with my drawings so curiousity got the better of me and i wanted to know if people felt the same (..and they did) So, i am very happy indeed. I only hope it's reflected in my marks that I've been informed will be arriving on Friday! Scary stuff.

So..the final week shall commence tomorrow, yet again I'm determined to make the most of it. I shall be invigilating for a few days and just popping in on other days to say hello. Father will help me take down my work on Thursday evening as I'll be venturing to Alton Towers on Friday (Please Lord give me sunshine) After that...It's pretty much over, Grad ball will hopefully be the cherry on top of a very eventful but wonderful last year.

Big day ahead! Due to the Degree show catalogue order being messed up by the printers I had to stay up until 1 am this morning making and giving every one of my business cards and individual drawing ('cos I'm nice like that). I'm hoping people will like the idea at the business view this evening, after all..who ever takes one is getting an original by me!. If they are successful tonight i might have to make some more for tomorrows private view and possibly the the whole of next week! I don't mind really, as long as the public enjoy.

Yesterday was brilliant! i got to see the lovely Charlies (Theteadrinkingenglishrose) work which was very impressive! such lovely designs and a beautiful display! Afterwards i had the opportunity to view the NTU fashion design catwalk show which was also fabulous! They are a very talented bunch and I'd love to wear many of their collections.

This week began with a beautiful four mile walk through the countryside, A chance to gather my thoughts and idea's on the coming weeks of mayhem but also the feeling of excitement knowing some marvelous packages were on their way to me!.

I've only known about Jon Burgerman for a short time but I'm absolutely in love with his work, it has inspired me to go out and buy numerous pens and draw on everything with a suitable surface! His very colourful book arrived yesterday and it is a very good read (observing mostly). Thanks to Jennings' I've discovered something else to throw my student loan money at, my tatty Divine name necklace arrived this week, admittedly a little late but lovely none the less.

This is the last week of normal studio time at uni, next week is full on clear out mode and putting work up, scary stuff! I prefer working at home to be honest (Plenty of tea at hand as you can see) but for memories sake I've made the most of this last working week and it's been a lot of fun. To top it off we've had the mother of all storms which was wonderful to watch but a tad scary! If only i could of captured the lightning!.

Despite various deadlines, i could not be happier today! The weather is fabulous, i've finished my baking for the studio party and i'm celebrating noodle style tonight for Jennings' birthday. I've almost completed one of my final drawings for the degree show but i'm not entirely sure it works, suppose that teaches me a lesson for changeing my ideas at the last minuite again.
